Naming our boat....we're stuck
« on: October 04, 2005, 06:47:33 PM »
We purchased our 23ft boat early this summer.  Its name before I got it was "Toy Addiction," which I really didn't like, but it does fit.  Previously the boat was named the "Happy Hooker,"...according to the throw buoy that was on board when we bought it....lol.  The original owner who we met at Striechs one Sat, said he never officially named the boat.  (I believe we are the 4th owners of the boat.) Anyway we de-named the boat and currently it does not have one.

So...I've come up with this list:

3 Extra Inches,
Sniffers Row (the wife actually came up with that one...lol)
Over Compensation
Poseidon’s Nemesis (that one is just asking for trouble.)
The Putt Putt

What I'm asking is...what did you name your boat...and more importantly...WHY?

We're not into naming it after our jobs as the boat is our escape from our jobs.

The boat is not the fastest, biggest, or most flamboyant boat by any stretch, but it is loud as hell (no mufflers...yet.)

Any Ideas?  It's bad luck to not have a name on the boat.

We originally named our 3rd boat (2nd pontoon) TYPE-A, as in my personality.  Friends thought it was funny that someone as wound up as me had a pontoon boat that could only go 25mph - I told them that the big-assed cooler help to "take the edge off".

We continued that name on with our '99 Crownline 225ccr and now it's on our '03 Crownline 262cr.

ha, that's great.  You sound like my father in law.

Well, I'm anything but a type A personality.  That's my wife's roll (You know....opposites attract.)

One of our cars lic. plates is Thera....which is an ancient island off the coast of Greece now named Santorini...and the car is Santorini blue.  So the name has to be a little "deep," and mean something.

I was researching Greek gods.  The Greek god of fortune is Tyche....I'm thinking that may be a good direction.

Dionysus or Dionysos (Ancient Greek: Διώνυσος or Διόνυσος; also known as Bacchus in both Greek and Roman mythology and associated with the Italic Liber), the Thracian god of wine, represents not only the intoxicating power of wine, but also its social and beneficent influences. He is viewed as the promoter of civilization, a lawgiver, and lover of peace — as well as the patron deity of both agriculture and the theater.

DIONYSUS (dye-oh-NYE-sus; Roman name Bacchus) was the god of wine. Dionysus was the son of Zeus and the mortal heroine Semele.

He didn't know about beer and booze at the time.
So, I am guessing he would be the party god.....
