Pullmans in Appleton
« on: January 23, 2007, 03:32:01 PM »
I'd like to advise you and encourage you not to patronize the new restaurant, Pullmans, which is located in the new Trolley Square building on Olde Oneida street.

A group of 10 of us ate there recently and the four that had chicken dishes all became violently ill the next day. The restaurant has dismissed this as "the flu" even though a test come back positive as food poisoning.

Also, the same night, a coworker ate there, also had the chicken, and you guessed it...got very sick the next day.

Flu?

Yah right...

The health department knows it was food related and not environmental, but has been done. The city of Appleton has a vested interest in the commercial development along the Fox River.

Maybe something will be done when a patron gets hospitalized?

I've never eaten at Pullmans, but I wouldn't be afraid to get a chicken dish. They are a new restaurant and probably had an issue that effected your friends food. Hopefully Pullmans will learn from their mistake and make the necessary changes so that it never happens again.

We went to Pullman's Sat night with a couple we boat with.  Luckily I was smart enough to make reservations (7:30).  It was busy when we got there at about 6:45.  We were lucky enough to get a table in the bar area while we waited for our dinner table.  The bartender that waited on me was crabby but the waitress who was working our temporary table was super nice.  At 7:35 our pager went off and we were seated.  (2) of us ordered shrimp scampi, (1) chicken and I got the perch.   The scampi eaters were a little disapointed in the size of the shrimp (very small), the chicken was pleased and my perch was average and it was slightly over cooked (although I did get a lot for the $13.99).  The atmosphere is unique to the valley and the service along with the food was nothing special.  I might go back, I might not.  For the money I think I would rather go to the Red Ox, George's or any other supper club.

I haven't been in the one on Oneida st.  I really liked the food when it was on the frontage road by the gulf course off of 41.

Unfortunately, while the parking lot was being repaired, a careless worker from a local asphalt paving company started the original Red Ox on fire and the place burnt to the ground. Thats when they moved to the current location. Different look, same great food.

Pullman's Update,

Patti and her friends stopped at Pullman's last night before going to a concert.

They were very busy, but the girls had reservations. Service was fast and good.

They ordered many different items including chicken meals. They all thought the
meals were great.

Cheryl and I have been to Pullman's twice now, the second time with Skip and Sue from AYC.  Both times the food was good.  We enjoyed it.  They have a huge patio so that will be a very popular place this summer, I'm guessing.
