We got a recall notice from Mercruiser. Our boat is a 2003 model with the 5.0 260HP MPI engine. The recall is to correct a problem where one of the alternator wires can rub against the dipstick tube.
It sounds like a fairly straight forward fix, which is to encase the wire in a cover that will not wear through.
I thought I would pass this information along in case there are others out there with the same engine set up who may not have received the recall letter.
