Yesterday, Saturday we went over to Calumet Harbor for supper.
Trip started out fine but with an easterly wind the waves got bigger the further from shore we went.
Just under half way the admiral said she had enough pounding so I took her off plane and put-putted the rest of the way. Going with the waves we still managed about 8 knots.
Went to dinner at Jim & Lindas, right next to Calumet Harbor. Got there about 5:15PM. It was packed. Hour wait but eventually we had a very nice diner.
We stayed below wake speed most of the way back.
It was a bright near full moon and more enjoyable then I would have imagined.
The slow speed and lack of other boats gave me some time to reflect on the boating season.
Looking back over the summer we had a very fun year boating on this Lake Winnebago, Fox and Wolf river chain of lakes. When I starting posting hear at Wiparty this spring we had just moved up from a jet ski to our express cruiser.
Over this season I put about 1,900 miles and 150 hours on the boat We went as far south (Fond du Lac), north (Appleton), east (Calumet, Stockbridge, High Cliff) and almost as far west (Past Freemont) as we can go via water.
We discovered sandy swimming areas like Stretches, Sand Pit and Nipple Beach. Found some great restaurants like Fin and Feather, Jim & Linda’s and the Harbor Bar.
We met lots a fun people and so did our kids. We enjoyed a variety of sports like skiing, knee boarding and tubing.
Next season I hope to get past nipple beach and continue to New London. I’d also like to try the upper Fox Fiver to Omro.
We learned a lot and had a great time.
I really wish to thank everyone that posts here at Wiparty for all the information on this area and hope some of my posts have helped others.
