Sleds?
« on: October 04, 2009, 07:52:44 AM »
Since some of you guys are pulling the plug so early on the boating season I guess it's time to bring up the topic of snowmobiles --- anyone have one? How are the trails up there? ....I've been dreaming of getting another one, now that I have some storage space to put one at. I thought it was odd that there isn't a section on this board for sleds.

Yup, I have one.  The trails up here have been pretty good the last few years.  Most of the clubs maintain them pretty regularly.  Each of the last three years I've put over 1000 miles on in this area.

The rivers and lakes are pretty fun to ride as well, but there are some treacherous areas that don't freeze over very well.  Unfortunately, most of those areas are in towns like Oshkosh, Berlin, Winneconne, and Fremont.  I'd be up for a Sledding forum on the board.

Trails around here are mostly farm fields so we need wet heavy snow otherwise it mostly blows into the ditches and my driveway. Winnebago can be fun if it freezes flat, doesn't crack and heave. Last year right before x-mas I was playing on the east shore by High Cliff in snow that was the deepest I've ever seen. kept getting stuck because it was glare ice under all that powder, but what a blast.

Glad to see I'am not the only sled head on here.  ;D

Sold mine a few years ago because of the lack of snow around here. Now we get record snow every year since. Go figure  ::)

Sure A-Bob, lets go.  By the way do you have an extra sled and trailer?  Also could you drive and oh yeah, buy the beer?  Other than that I'll set to go.  :P
